The Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (OSSCA) recently unveiled its All-Ohio teams for the 2022 high school soccer season, and the exceptional performances of several Ohio State Buckeyes players did not go unnoticed.

Representing The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, the Buckeyes men’s and women’s soccer teams proudly compete in the prestigious Big Ten Conference, establishing themselves as formidable contenders in college soccer across the United States.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the recognition of four Buckeyes players for their outstanding achievements. Senior goalkeeper Keagan McLaughlin, redshirt junior defender Xavier Green, senior midfielder Laurence Wootton, and junior midfielder Owen Sullivan have all received nominations to the esteemed 2022 OCSA Academic All-Ohio Team. This prestigious honor acknowledges student-athletes who consistently excel both on the field and in the classroom.
In addition to their remarkable academic accomplishments, McLaughlin and Wootton have also secured spots on the highly competitive 2022 OCSA Division I All-Ohio squad. This well-deserved recognition reflects their exceptional performances on the soccer field. McLaughlin, a key pillar of the Buckeyes’ defense, tallied an impressive six shutouts and maintained an impressive 0.85 goals-against average throughout the season. Wootton, a vital presence in the midfield, contributed significantly to the team’s success, showcasing his skills with three goals and two assists.
It is worth noting that Wootton tied for the team lead with five goals, displaying his offensive prowess, while McLaughlin’s remarkable season included leading the Big Ten in various statistical categories and playing a crucial role in the Buckeyes’ triumphs with his exceptional goalkeeping abilities.
The Buckeyes secured a commendable second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference regular-season standings and advanced to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, thanks in large part to the impactful contributions of Xavier Green, who accumulated 15 total points and netted five goals, as well as Owen Sullivan’s valuable goal contributions.
In conclusion, the Buckeyes showcased a talented and dedicated group of players who made substantial contributions on both ends of the field, propelling the team to a successful season.
